Carrie Lam valgt til Hong Kongs første kvinnelige statsminister ”Chief Executive”

Etter et svært spennende valg ble Carrie Lam valgt til ny statsminister eller Chief Executive som det heter for Hong Kong, SAR (Special Administrative Region). 

Carrie Lam besøkte Norge og Norge Hong Kong Handelskammer som leder for Hong Kongs representasjon i Vest-Europa med kontor i London.

The Hong Kong data center market is a springboard in the sense that international service providers that want to serve China often start in Hong Kong". It applies not only data center, but other business sectors as well.

Hong Kong may be one of the world’s tiniest nations, but its importance on the internet’s global map is huge, and, if the Hong Kong government plays its cards right, that importance is only going to grow.

Hong Kong is important because China is important. As China’s Special Administrative Region, it is more westernized and open than the People’s Republic. It is both a springboard and a gateway between the recently emerged economic powerhouse and the rest of the world.

Great celebrations of the Chinese New Year at the Hotel Continental, Oslo January 24 and in Bergen on January 26

Around 120 representatives of the business community and the ministries in Oslo were present when the Norway-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in close cooperation with the Hong Kong London Economic and Trade Office and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council celebrated the Year of the Rooster with a seminar and reception at the Hotel Continental in Oslo Tuesday January 24.
State secretary Dilek Ayhan ; Ministry of Economics, Industry and Fisheries held the opening speech and commented on the positive development in the trade between Norway and Hong Kong. She also looked forward to the reopening of the Trade Agreement negotiations with China as this would have a further positive effect on Hong Kong as well.
There were presentation from Director General Priscilla To of the Hong Kong London Economic and Trade Office and William Chui and Regional Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Frankfurt.
Furthermore Odd Arild Lehne , SVP of Oslo Medtech mentioned in his presentation that they plan a Medtech delegation from the Nordics to Hong Kong during first half of this year.
Last but not least, macro economist Ole Kjennerud of DNB commented that it was expected that the Hong Kong economy would pick up and do well in 2017.
The seminar was followed by an excellent reception with an Asian inspired buffet.


The Bergen Chinese New Year seminar took place on Thursday January 26 at the Grand, organized by the Bergen Chamber and supported by Hong Kong London ETO and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The opening speech was made by the Mayor of Bergen , Ms. Marte Mjøs Pedersen, followed by excellent speakers from the Bergen internationally oriented business community and the Bergen University who presented cases on their operations in and through Hong Kong.
Around 60 representatives of business and public life in Bergen were given a first class update in How to do business in and through Hong Kong.
Afterwards a delicate seafood luncheon sponsored by Lerøy Seafood was served.
